First I need to say that I think the few mack bells I've seen are just awsome-they look more like what an albino should look like to me (and I need to get me a female het :)
Second, as far as the bell albinism traight-is it ocular like the enigma? I ask because they never look albino to me, when you compare them pigment wise to the trempers or lv. They're so yellow, but they've got the red eyes. It seems as babies they might be pale, but quickly color in. I haven't seen a pale bell that looks like an albino really until the mack bell, and as far as limited pattern, I've only seen it on the blue bells. Anyone have any bells without other morph influence that actually "looks" albino, wether lacking yellow or pattern? I always see pattern and color, that's why I'm wondering if it's an ocular type traight. Is this confusing? Anyone else ever thought bells were strange in the albino sense?

That's what my bells look like-bright yellow and brown spotting, with a little non color. That's why I'm asking about the genes. I'm looking for one with near or no color or spotting like the other albinos. Don't get me wrong, I love bells, and that's why we have them.

The original few generations of Bells were pretty dark. One thing to keep in mind is that the original Trempers were really dark also.

Here's some old pics of some of my first Bell Albinos.

Everyone thought they were ugly and no one wanted them back then. Oh, the good ole days!:p

"Everyone thought they were ugly."

And yet soon as I first saw one I wanted one and now I have them :) I've never really seen a dark tremper so I didn't think about that. I suppose they are still sort of new-they come out in 2002? I wonder if in a few more years the bells will fade with outcrossing. I just think they are full of surprises gene wise with all the morphs/patterns that hatch out of bell breedings or how the gene carries over. I guess I just don't think "albino" when I look at them really with all the brown pigment.

Does anyone have a snow albino that took on a more mack pattern? I'm curiouse why the albino macks take on a more albino appearance when the albino is recessive. I would think they would be more of a red eyed mack. Is it the tricky mack genes at work here?

The color is much more maroon/burgundy than brown. You're making my geckos sad calling em' brown! The best thing about Bells is that they're not like other albinos!

I wouldn't mind working him into a little Mack/Bell project, I guess I'll need the Macks first.

Here are two of my bells for comparison. The female is much lighter-she only recently started to get yellow compared to the male who is bright yellow. (yes I know my female is thin tailed and kink tailed-for some reason I just cannot fatten her up.She grows an inch, then fills in, then grows another inch while thinning out, then fattens up. No health issues according to vet.)

You should get a second opinion on her.

I have a similar female that I got from Kelli. However, the fading is only on the dorsal area. This will be her last season breeding and I'm hoping to get some Snow Bells from her. They should be special!

Kelli's pic of her...

Carrot tail is not exclusive to the Bell albinos; either of the other albino strains can have the carrot tail as well. Some of the nicest albinos with carrot tails I've seen have been the Bells, however.
