Mack Snow or Super Snow

I have had this male for about a year now. I purchased him as a Mack Snow. recently a few people that have seen him insist that he is in fact a Super Snow. I am by no means an expert on morphs and could be wrong, but I still call him a high white Mack Snow. He does not have eclipse eyes as the poor quality picture shows and doesn't really have rows of spots. The spots don't really have any pattern. The pictures never show it but he also has very faint yellow (almost almond color) in a few areas on his back. I was just curious what some experienced keepers thought. Also his parents were a Super Snow male x Mack Snow female with no known hets that I was informed of.
Thanks for looking.

I believe you would get 50% Super Snows, 50% Mack Snows from the combination of the parents. I'm not an expert breeder, but I just wanted to give you my opinion. It looks like a Mack Snow to me. I have a Super Snow and one thing all Super Snows have is solid eclipse eyes. Whatever your leo actually is he is a gorgeous looking gecko, congrats!

I guess since I have paired him with a Mack Snow, if I get any Normals then he can't be a Super. Two eggs in the incubator from this pairing and we will have two more by the end of the week.

I'm 99% sure that all super snows are to have 100% eclipse eyes. Both of mine have solid black eyes.
With your pairing, you should get 50% chance of Mack snows, 25% Normal, and 25% super snows if he is indeed a Mack snow. And like you said, you wouldn't get any normals if he were Super snow.

Would be neat to have a super snow without the solid black eyes (even though I love those eyes on my s.snows)...but I guess there would be no way to know for sure if he's super snow or not unless you ended up with a normal offspring. If you don't end up with a normal offspring, there's still that chance that he's a mack snow instead, even if you never end up with a normal.

The Eclipse gene is different than the black eyes of a SS. The all black eyes are just referred to as "eclipse" eyes. In the case of a SS, it has nothing to do with the actual Eclipse gene. They are two separate things. The gecko in question does not have black (or eclipse) eyes like every SS I have ever seen but looks very similar to one. This is the part that is throwing me off.
Everything I have ever read tells me that he can't be a SS. I just wanted to see if more experienced breeders than myself agree with me or if I am missing something.

You are exactly right. Super snows have to have "eclipse" eyes, even though they are not truly from the eclipse gene. Very nice looking mack snow.

Thank you!
I hope at least one of the babies he sires this season will look like he does. So far 4 eggs (Big mack x Mack Snow) are cooking.

I hear you...I have a very unique looking mack snow as well, I need to post a picture of him and see if anyone has seen anything like him..I took him into the michigan reptile expo and Ohio geckos and Magical geckos took a look at him and said they've never seen a gecko like mine before. so i'm hoping to produce more offspring that look like him. he looks exactly like a super snow but doesn't have the "eclipse eyes".

Looks MS to me. A side pic might help. It looks like there are darker areas where it used to have bands. I also dont see the eclipse eye. The pic there looks like normal eyes.

Here are a couple more pictures.
If you look close hopefully you can see the bands on his back that have faded away.

You can sort of see some of the faint yellows on his back.

By the way he is almost 3 years old now.

It's a snow. All super snows have solid black eyes. They also do not have yellow tints. It's a very nice snow.

Exactly what I thought.
This is more..... proof, if you will to anyone still wondering. This is the first hatchling sired by this male "Big Mack" x Mack Snow. Hatched a few days ago which which is not a Snow.

Kind of stinks that on the first baby I didn't hit the odds but it did give me my answer for sure on Big Mack and it's a nice healthy little baby.
