Well, Alex replied, and he has got my hopes up. Heres his reply:

"Hey Jeanne ;-)
Hope all is well !

The only sure way to tell if its a mack pastel is to watch it develop coloration over the next few weeks....mack pastels will take on the coloration rather quickly ( matter of weeks ) versus a couple of months on mack snows. Who knows....you may even have a Mack snow pastel !!!

Alex"

Now, that would be cool, a Mack Snow pastel, of coarse, I doubt I am that lucky. I wish more people like Steve and Albey would reply to this thread, maybe they have hatched one like this. I am going to have to go back to look at my pictures of previous Mack Snows to see if they had any yellow on them.

I emailed Steve at Geckos Etc and he thinks it's a Mack Snow too. But, the only way to be 100% sure is to prove him or her out.

Hopefully it will be a female

The co-doms (hets) can...especially as they grow older. They usually hatch bright white and turn yellow as time goes on. That's why Jeanne is wondering if the baby is Mack or not.

Yep, this is the first Mack that I've hatched out with any yellow on it, they usually develope the yellow after a few sheds or so.

Hi Jeanne,
I don’t think it is a Mack Snow just because of the yellow color. Every Mack I have hatched out with at least one parent being a Super has been white in color. So have all of the Double Het to Double Het. I hatched out some from Co-Dom to Co-Dom last year and they were an off white color sort of very light gray but no yellow. I wouldn’t sell them as Mack’s so I kept them to prove out. They both proved out for me, so I guess light gray is OK.:main_yes: If I were you I wouldn’t sell it, just keep it and breed it to your Super Male next year.

Jeanne, I had a baby that looked a LOT like a Mack Snow when it hatched, although there was no way it could've been since neither parent was. It looked a lot like the one you have in question, except the bands were slightly narrower. There was just a slight amount of yellow on the back legs. I know I took a picture of it when it hatched, but I can't find the darn thing anywhere.

This is what it looks like now @ 2 months old:

EDIT: Oddly enough, this one is also het Bell, like yours.

Thats what I thought. The other Macks that I hatched out were completely Black and White when born, no yellow. I will be holding this one back and will breed it myself to prove or disprove it out. I really hope its a female though. I only want to keep 1.2 or 1.3 of each group, so if this turns out to be a male, I may be in trouble :)

Update

Figured I would post an update on these 2.

First is the one that I wasn't sure if it was a Mack or not, I don't think it's a Mack, it turned pretty yellow, but has a cool speckled pattern. I will probably hold it back and breed it next year to see if it is or isn't a Mack, so I will know for sure.

And this is definately a Mack, and Het Bell. Not sure what the sex is yet, but, it is gorgeous! Not Getting much yellow, I think he/she is going to look like his Dad, nice and B & W even as an adult, just a hint of yellow.
