Well basically here in the UK we have very seldom ammounts of weird and wonderful herps that are indiginous to us.
However searching through the walls of the showroom at work the other day I found 6 or 7 tube web spiders, (segestria florentina), and these were some big mean suckers, We found a whole family of them in the crevices, I know this may not be very interesting to many of you that can actually go out and hunt for snakes in fields and stuff, However I thought it was quite cool, you could really see the irridecent fang covers the shiny green on this one female and she was BIG.
Did the old leaf on the web trick and she came out to say hello, unfortunately they dart out and back and I did not have a chance to get a shot on my camera, but i will keep trying!.

Anyways its more of a rant now I think of it but I thought I would share.

That's what I like about Western Europe. Our exciting wildlife is so scarce that it's pure joy to encounter it! We have some tube web spiders in our shed, they are humongous!

I've had one encounter with an adder, almost stepped on it on a sunny spring day, while walking through the bogs, looking for birds. It brought out the sweats, but it was a great experience!

Yeah I have had encounters with a few adders, a nice 6 foot long bugger almost tagged me so I stayed well away from there for a while.
Haa
Yeah allways a really exciting experience when you find something you don't expect.

The tube spiders are actually known to have bitten people. Apparently it feels like a bee sting but without any consequences.

Next time I take some nature pics I will make sure to upload some!
