Maybe someone can think of something

So we decided to cut back on the amount of crickets that we were giving our cresties since some of them became more interested in those rather than the CGD. Now I've noticed that whenever I am handing out the CGD, not much if any is being eatten. They'd rather kick the coccofiber into it or let it dry out. Started offering crickets again, but not as often as we did before, now only 1 out of 5 will even touch them.

Seems like only 1 out of 5 seems to be eatting anything in decent amounts.

Anything that can really be done or are they just being stubborn?

They are probably being stubborn; the usually have phases. If you have them near an air vent when they can get a cool breeze, that could also decrease their appetite because the coolness slows their metabolism.

I'll say. I swear these guys are worse than the leos and afts. lol. The two boys don't have much meat on their bones (in my opinion) to be pulling that. But I was surprised when the one female did that. She was the one that stopped the CGD first and would only eat crickets. :wall:

Brats, all of them. LOL.

A couple of my geckos decided they didn't want any more crickets unless they were dusted in either banana CGD powder or the Rapashy fruit mix powder; divas. Now I'm hunting for the fruit berry flavored calcium somebody told me about.

I don't think I've heard of anything like that. I picked up peach flavored CGD at the last reptile show and one seemed to like it, other could care less. Now it seems like none seem to eat it.

Granted I was feeding it to them dry for a while, but after talking to the vendor about it I decided against doing that anymore. Still, they were fed it mixed with water before.

Not sure if I should try yet another flavor, as I don't want to have 3 opened bags sitting here and not much eatting.

We are finally down to 8 flavors (had them all at 1 point), they store a really long time dry in the frig or freezer. We do a rotation on the flavors, different flavor or combination of 2 flavors at each feeding. All of our will eat them to some degree, but there are certain flavors or flavor combination that they really seem to love and proceed by cleaning their bowls.

They can be really picky eaters. Love something for ever then immediately hate it without warning. Guess they are kinda like us, if you eat something so often you get kinda burned out on it.

you should never feed insects ill you know they are eating there cgd on the reg. They are holding out for insects i would not feed any more insects till they are eating the cgd for sure. and only feed insects once or twice a month after that.

They are not holding out for insects because I offered them and they turned their noses up at them. I generally don't give them that many crickets and even cut back on the already low amount I was giving to begin with. 1 out of the 5 cresties will still eat crickets. The others just looks at it and go about their crestie business. All of them at one point would devour them when I would put them in.

Reptile show tomorrow, I'll try another flavor I guess. I know the vendor had said mixing plain yogurt and/or honey in for added vitamin benefit, I was doing that and only one seemed to be ok with it. Maybe that could have been the issue. Even tho I am not doing it now (you'd think they'd like the honey for the sweetness factor) maybe they are expecting it or something.

On a side note : Hannibal, I love your garg!

Hannibal, that is very interesting, never knew that!

But just putting it out there, I've been reccomended Mango flavoured repashy through Northern Gecko, I guess it's a newer product that Allen has released. This stuff got the baby food addicts back on track, give it a whirl.
