I've mentioned before my apprx 2 month old LG came to me with MBD as evidenced by a broken wrist. I am providing a bowel of calcium powder for her and trying my best to dust her meal worms...although the mealworms are hard to dust. Do I need to do anything else?? I've had her just under a month and her little wrist still turns in, although I can't feel an obvious break anymore like I could before. Does she NEED an extra calcium supplement like calcionate syrup?? I just wanna be sure I'm doing all I can do. What about adding a UVB light for short periods of time? :main_huh:

Jordan is..partially right. A vet can give her a shot of calcium, but that's about all they can do. Liquid calcium gluconate (I think that's what it is) is available on some herp sites and on ebay. That could help more than the calcium carbonate (powder stuff).

Some veterinarians agree that a UVB light helps animals with MBD recover. I'm not sure if I buy it, but it certainly couldn't hurt.

Does the powder you dust with have vitamin D3 in it? If not, the UVB light WILL be helpful. They need that vitamin to absorb the calcium properly.
