This gecko (Mack Snow) is 10 months old, and he only weighs 26 grams. He was brought to me today by another young breeder to see if I could help him, but I advised her to humanely euthanize him. She wanted to try to rehabilitate him, knowing it would be a long haul. She sold the gecko to someone last Fall, but he was returned because he wouldn't eat. It's no wonder... he couldn't even walk or use his jaw. I cannot even comprehend how anybody could abuse such a beautiful, gentle creature to this point.

I soaked him and got all the residual shed off, and he felt much better. Then I mixed up some Repti-Aid with liquid calcium, and tubed him with about .3cc. These photos do not truly represent just how bad this gecko looks.

Sometimes I hate people, too. If this was a dog or a cat, this person would be brought up on animal cruelty charges. But it's a reptile. They don't count.

I'm heartbroken to report that this little gecko is dead. I went to check on him, but he regurgitated the liquid calcium I tubed him with and aspirated on it because he could not swallow. I tried. He is no longer suffering.

So sad :( I don't understand how people can wait to the point of no return before they seek help. Someone in our herp society surrendered one to me not long ago in the worst condition I have ever seen a gecko still alive. It lived only 6 hours. Some people just suck :(

At least you were able to give the poor thing some comfort at the end. Thank you for that, Marcia.

UGH! I really, really don't understand how ANY human being can do this to an animal, and think it's okay. It doesn't take an expert to see that the gecko was in terrible shape. Seriously, the jaw of the gecko doesn't even have enough support to keep it's mouth closed, and people are wondering why he wouldn't eat?! I'm not even going to bother commenting on the stuck shed...absolutely repulsive. I just do not understand :main_no::main_no::main_no:

If everyone cared half as much as you do, Marcia, all geckos would be living happy lives. You did what you could, and unfortunately this gecko was far from being able to be rehabilitated. Good on you for trying.
