Hi everyone. I need to know the best course of options for geckos with MBD. If anybody with experience with this could post a reply and give us your personal experiences with vet visits or do-it-yourself methods, it's much appreciated.

Specifically, I want to know what will work the quickest and most effective.

Regular calcium powder (with or without d3)
liquid calcium (calcionate syrup)
d3 injections
calcitonin
calcium gluconate

  • Which of these has the highest concentration? Which will work quickest, and which will be most effective?
  • How do I go about doing it?
  • If there is a vet involved, how much $$ should I be prepared to spend for injections?

*To keep them from getting MBD*Regular calcium powder (with or without d3) = has to be with D3 this is mainly to keep them at a good heath so they dont get it, however it could help solve Small cases of MBD ($5-$10 a jar)

*good to use imo for the treatment of a classic MBD case*liquid calcium (calcionate syrup) = I have never heard of this, however i used the Drops from T-Rex and had some Amazing success with them, but remember they have a "pure d3" and a "only Calcium" get best of both worlds but if you cant you want the D3 one. (there about 6 bucks each)

*Reptile need help ASAP and once a reptile is at this point its a 50/50 chance it will work* d3 injections: my vet would ONLY give these out if the reptile was near death, Honesly i cant remember how much it was. i dont think it was alot...but i remember that bill for my Uro (animal who got the Injection) it was a emergency and the bill was about $300 * from other things* and he ended up having to be put down :(

calcitonin (Never heard of it)

calcium gluconate (Never heard of it)
