Meal Worm Value

I also have a Bearded Dragon and have found most folks in that group do not use Meal Worms because they have a low meat to shell ratio and they also indicate they are high risk for impaction and don't offer much nutritional value ... However it seems like a lot of folks on here use them as feeders ... Am I missing why they would be good for Geckos and not so good for BD?

Maybe the fact that bearded dragons are larger than leos and so you would have to feed them a lot more mealies to fill them up compared to leos.

my boyfriend has a beardie, everytime we feed him mealies they basically come right back out the other end completely undigested. he chews them but there are still little chunks of mealworm in his poop. hes fine with super worms...i know they arent exactly the same but pretty close so i dont understand why that happens with the mealies

well the super worms have less ceratin that forms the shell i think (correct me if im wrong) and the mealies have a higher level of the ceratin making the shell harder i suppose.

So is the geckos metabolism different that it can digest them better?
