petstores usually have them as long as they sell reptiles...

you said you got your gecko from petsmart? i know the one near me has a mini-fridge with all kinds of worms (mealies, supers, wax worms, etc.) near the fish tanks and reptiles, if you ask someone there i'm sure they'll be able to direct you to it. they also had a workstation type thing that had crickets on both sides of it.

there are places online too if you do a search for mealworms on google or mealworms for sale, etc. they even sell them on ebay.

i'm breeding mealworms myself now. as we speak i have a few of the beetles still alive and i'm not sure how many little mealworms (about 1/4" long) in the one container and the other container of 100+ full sized mealies is in the fridge since i only have one gecko mouth to feed. if i start to feel like the supply is getting low i'll just put some of the mealies in a separate container and warm them up so they'll pupate and turn into more beetles.

I order mine off line from Sunshine mealworms. I usally get 10,000 for 45 shipped. :)

I will never go to a pet store for mealies again. Also when I get them there not half dead like the pet stores.

i wouldn't go to a pet store if i needed 10,000 at a time either, but for only one gecko ordering from somewhere online is kinda pointless because of shipping costs... i think the one small petstore here sells 100 mealies for $1 and supers and crickets for 10 cents each.

nope, sorry.

if you only need a small number of mealworms (under 1000) it would be probably be easiest to find somewhere locally to avoid paying shipping. i'm not sure where you're located, but if there's anyone on here that's from the same area as you they might know of specific local places.

Pet stores that sell herps generally have them, I know petco and petsmart does. I generally order mine in bulk for sunshine mealies if I need them, been breeding them so havent needed to order anymore recently. Being as you only have one leo its not worth buying them in bulk so pet stores are probly your best option..

Sunshine mealworms for me as well. We have 3 Leos and order up 2000 mealies every 2.5MO or so for $16.00 shipped. Petsmart here sells I think 25 Supers for $3.00 and I think 100 mealies 1/2 are usually dead for about $3.00 as well. Even with one Leo you're probably better off ordering 1000/mealies online, keep about a weeks worth outside and store the rest in the fridge. Just take them out every couple days to feed and drink and separate what you need for another week.

i jus got my 1st order from sunshine today 1000 giants for 22 most of which was shipping. i get mine from petsmart occasionally but the cost is ridiculous b/c its $3 per thing of mealies, the giants come in 35 counts and the mediums come in 50 counts. like somebody already said they are usually half dead though. its alot easier to order in bulk regardless how many mouths your feeding. ill be ordering larger amounts but just went with 1000 for first order and im quite satisfied. :D

How do you all keep the mealies alive tor 2.5mnths when you order 1000 or so?

I order 2000 at a time, when I get them in, I set them up in a sterilite tub for 2-3 days on the gut-load with some pieces of carrots or potatoes, let them eat and drink. Then separate about a weeks worth for our 1.2 Leos, and place them in another tub with gut-load substrate and pieces of carrots. I then place the tub with the bulk of them in the fridge and just pull them out every 4-5 days for about 2 days, and then back in the fridge. Each week I pull what we need and move them to the other tub.

We use Bassetts Cricket Ranch. Another option if you have only one or two gecko's may be a privately owned pet shop. We have a feed store near us that buys their mealworms in bulk, and keeps them well fed and healthy.

I just got my first order from Bassets about 20 minutes ago and I was impressed. Out of 10,000+ I found about 25 dead when I was sorting them into various containers! I am used to buying them at the petshop and having that many dead out of the little container of 75-100. These were all big nice juicy looking ones too.
