Well It was that time again to order some more mealworms but this time i wanted to breed them so I wont have to keep buying more. I tried it before but I used oats and they're pretty big so it was a pain to clean and get all the little babies out. Now for the questions. First is wheat bran and wheat germ the same thing?? I went to walmart(like 3 different ones) and all they had was wheat germ in a tiny little jar for 4$ so I'm wondering where everybody gets theres from?? Also I bought some oats just in case I couldnt get any wheat germ, so would it be ok to use it as a powdered form? I blended it all up and it came out really fine like powder almost. Well I would appreciate some help from you guys if possible.

blending it up is a good idea. That way when you want to get the mealworms out, you just sift the stuff and the (larger) mealworms stay in the sifter. There's no need to pick mealworms out of the gutload. It's better to take out the beetles, move them to new bedding and put the old bedding with the tiny mealworms in another container till they get bigger. When they're big enough, you can sift them out. It's a good idea to go to a natural foods store, get several grains (organic if possible) and put them all through the blender.
