Mealworm beetles constantly on their back

I've just been getting a mealworm colony going, and I'm just amazed at how idiotic the beetles seem to be... they are almost always on their back and unable to right themselves. I flip them upright, and they are upside down almost before I can put the drawer away. I'm wondering if this is a sign of mealworms that were exposed to pesticide or something... hard to imagine they are reproducing effectively this way. Maybe if it was just the lady beetles on their backs... :)

They arent quite used to having legs yet. I used to have this problem with I first started a colony. They figure it out. Try putting some toliet paper rolls in there for them to hide in/ climb on etc.
