I started off with buying like 500 or 1000 I don't remember. Anyways I am able to almost roll in mealworms/mealworm beetles.

Is it possible to keep the pupa in the fridge like I would the mealworms if I needed to. I have so many and I get a handfull every night that I clean out of the mealworm bin.

Maybe some people are even looking to start their own and want some pupa or beetles.

What do you all of you do with the extra you have?

Since I am gearing up to more than double the number of geckos that I currently keep I am using all of the pupae that I can. My suggestion would be to keep half of the next 1000 in the fridge and when the half that you keep out starts to pupate just switch over to the ones in the fridge. I keep mine around 45F in a separate mini fridge because my wife would kill me if she reached for mayo and pulled out some worms.

This way you will get the most out of your feeders and end up with half the number of pupae.

I just keep the breeding cycle going, and use them all up anyway during baby summers. You could always just keep breeding and sell the surplus worms on craigslist which I used to do when I had extra. I would sell them for $5 for 80 grams, roughly equal to 1000 and much cheaper than the online places. I got some really interesting calls from people who wanted to feed birds, who wanted fish bait or who were breeding really large fish.

I have a bedding of oats. Till now I never saw a pupa. Should I search for them in the oats or they should be on the surface?
