This maybe a strange question, but here it goes...

Has anyone had their geckos stop eating mealies when they are about to change to aliens?? My leos seem to love them when I first get them and then once the mealies grow fully, right before they shed to aliens, they won't touch them. Do they even eat aliens??

I think it's because when they're about to turn into aliens, they just lie at the surfact and don't move. I try to feed my almost aliens to the hungriest babies (when I have them) who don't seem to care.

wow, what is the alien stage you speak of? and how long does that take, and what does an alien look like?

The "alien" is the pupae form of the mealworm (like a cocoon for a butterfly) and they look like something halfway between a worm and a beetle. I'm sure you can find pictures on the internet, or else just hang on to some of your mealworms and you'll find out. It takes varying amounts of time for the transition to happen depending on the temperature. The final phase is a black beetle.
