AHHH! My baby geckos are eating my home grown meal worms to the bone! I had two 6q tubs with babies and they have finished the first and are about a third done with the second :( I am going to have to call my supplier of crickets which also sell worms to see if they could squeeze me in. I posted a link in another thread which contains all the breeders in the US including small and large breeders.

There is a nation-wide shortage of mealworms. Something happened to the bedding/feed which caused mealworm mortality and eggs not to hatch. This is a MAJOR crisis, and will likely last the entire season.

We all need to consider alternative food sources immediately.

Wonder if the wheat gluten that killed all the cats and dogs went to the mealworm industry?

Maybe Mike can find some and give us a great deal. I am good for 2 or 3,000 mealworms.

thats actually what i was thinking, he has a ton right now. Would anyone here be interested in bulk if I can get it at the moment?

I tried silkworms last night only b/c I am short on crickets and out of mealies, ans the 4 I tried giving them to.. they took them right off the feeding tongs... it was cool. They loved 'em!! I won't give them any more soon, today I am going to the petstore (petsmart) for mealies since their shipment comes in on tues. around noon. I hope by the time I get there they still have a few I want to start producing them myself... I'm going to get the bins and materials today :D Does anyone know, do the black beetles make noise as adults??

I have about 2000 mealworms. Ive been buying 500ct from Pet Co. I was supprised some of the containers dont have a lot of dead ones in them. My problem is all my mealworms are pupating. I have a lot of pupa and about 20-30 beetels. I started using Weat Bran for my Meal Worms so I hope that there isnt a problem with the Weat Bran. I just bought a 50lb bag from TSC (Tractor Supply Company). I guess Ill try some Super Worms too. At least I have some Dubia Roaches. Im trying not to use them for feeding so I can get a good colony started.

I would suggest starting a colony. They are super easy to take care of. I keep ours in those plastic stackable sterlite drawers.

It would not be worthwhile to try to raise my own feeders... I'd neeed a facility! I go through over 14,000 per week...

Imagine 3-400,000 in a month, about 100,000 a week!!! Thats what Steve at Geckos Ect told me he goes through every month. Now thats some mealies.:main_yes: BTW Steve told he he is Having to use Crickets now as feeders.
