I just started a mealworm colony and I will probably switch from crickets to mealworms completely. The crickets are easy to breed but they STINK!!! The only reason I'm continuing is because I donate them to a non-profit reptile organization that is run by people with brain injuries. I may just donate all the equipment to them.
So far, the mealworms are SO much easier and don't smell! I have the colony in my family room right near the gecko cages. And all my geckos LOVE them.
I should have done mealies from the beginning but I had this "thing" about beetles. Looking back, I feel like such an idiot.
