Hey guys. I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong here, but I have a 1.5 colony set up in a 50 gal breeder, and I try to always keep food available. I have an exo terra worm feeder dish, but it seems like the mealies and superworms all die within a few hours of being put in there, and then they start to smell like crapola. It's getting expensive. I've tried putting bits of baby carrot in the dish as food, but they still die. Do they need to be kept really cool? My dish was on the warm side of the tank, and 4 hours from 3 dozen lively supers to 3 dozen rotten worms. Half the time my leos don't even get there before they're barely moving, and my geckos won't touch a thing that isn't crawling alot. Help!

Definitely try moving the dish to the cool side so the worms don't dehydrate as quickly.

I dont know anything about that dish, but I would say, stop using
it and see if things improve.

You are right. This is prob the answer, and makes way more sense than
my lame comment about not using the dish!! :main_thumbsup:

Im not an expert, but ive had my Leo for 7 yrs going on 8 in April. I feed him superworms gutloaded with an all in one jelly cubed multivitamin as well as fresh veggies and fruit once and a while(for the worms). As long as there's food in there the superworms just keep on living. I buy 100 at a time, put cubes in 2 times a week, store them underneath a table in dark and leave them be at room temp. I have one worm whose probably been in there since the beginning because he so massive, like 3 inches long, im scared what will happen to my gecko if he tried to eat it, i might have to decapitate the worm , anyways I buy small and medium size every month and half and add them to the others, i spend $8. I feed my Leo once a week, sometimes two times. I know when hes hungry because he comes out of his hide and stares at me, he'll move around and wiggle, and then stares again and will continue that until i notice. He eats about 6-8 in one feeding. Then he turns away, has some water, and relaxes on his belly for the evening with a smile. Basically the jist of what im saying is, i feed my gecko when hes hungry, theres no point of leaving them in a dish if hes not hungry. Are your mealies and super in the same tank? maybe your mealies are bunk and your superworms are eating the mealies and croaking as a result. Sounds like you have a few LEos, alll who are hungry. I would suggest cleaning the tank you house your worms in and starting over. Besides arent mealies unecessary fat? You want to feed your gecko(s) the healthiest diet you can, they count on you to keep them healthy, happy and alive. Again im not an expert, but hopefully in some way it helps.
