Hers the deal, my gecko ate mealies when i bought her. But i did not know that until i read the note that they put in the bag. So i bought crickets before i read the note. So i stared feeding crickets whit the ide that she would eat them whit out problems and she did. Now i think right now that they stink, and are nasty to work whit. But a few days ago i bought meal worms at the pet shop for my leo, in the furst i had to drop them in front of her nose and she would show interest in some. Afterward i tried to feed her yesterday and today, she looks at them and turns.

My Question is how can i make (in a friendly and non stressful way) her eat mealies again?
Or should i just feed her crickets.

the container is about 16 long, 10cm, 10 cm high.

Her is a picture, their quite a lot mealies.

maby if you grab one with tongs, they move alot more when grabed like that and just hold it about 1" from her face so she can see it. i think the movement will get her to try them, maby..... lol

hmm, im not sure how you'd get them to eat something they have no interest in.

Might be a bit extreme, but have you tried not feeding them crickets at all, as in take all the crickets out of the tank and put a couple of mealies in ... just set them free in the tank, surely when they get hungry enough they'll have to eat them?

Just monitor it for 2 or 3 nights ... if they still don't touch them, give them some crickets.

Well, put some oatmeal or something in that container if you want the worms to live and/or put them in the fridge. Just keep trying, I guess. I found it helpful sometimes to drop them into the bowl in front of their nose one at a time to try to get them to eat.

Try Roaches :idea3:

Sometimes it'll take a leo a little getting used to. Crickets have them running around like mad while mealworms just wiggle if they feel like it. They might not becatching his attention. Try holding one and wiggling it around his face and when he notices it drop it and the mealie will most likely crawl off and he'll go after it, I used this with my leo.

KK, well I am going to keep trying. I have no choice, the pet shop has no crickets... I have some earth worms in my fridge for my ribbon snake as a treat... think my geckos would take them? I only got them yesterday and the Kid i bought them from said they would eat almost any bugs and spiders they would give them ( Yes i know that is probably not a good idea). But are earth worms worth a try?

Ive never had a problem, switched 7 femals and 2 males from crix to mealies. It took about 5 or 6 days for them to all start eating them but didnt have a problem with it. About 2 times a month ill get a few dozen an give them a treat, that and it seams like dusting sticks better. Also I like watching them run around like a dinosaur.

Sounds cruel, but simply stop putting crickets in, put a fresh batch of mealies in every day so they are always moving around, and i guarantee you your gecko will get hooked.

So if i understand right, i sould stop giving her crickets and just keep putting mealies in front of her, or in a bould. But i have seen that if i dust mealworms whit calcium-plus they look like they are *sleepy* And move less then whitout the calcium.

I think someone else already said this, but it just worked for me then, I waited for my gecko to be out of his hide and using a pair of long tweezers I pinched the mealworms from behind and held it in front of his face for a few seconds until he seen it and the meal worm was wriggling around a lot and then i just dropped it in from of his face and he munched them up real quick. Fresh worms from the fridge or worm culture will wriggle more then ones left in there tank for a while.
