the only prep involved is feeding the worms and coating them in whichever vit/mineral powder you are using that day. cutting the heads off would be counter productive as leos are attracted to the movement of the insects they eat.

I pull my meal worms out of the fridge in the morning and stick them in a container (to feed.... gut load and have a piece of carrot for moisture) and leave them be for the day. When I get back from work later in the day, I toss them into the bowl inside with the leos.

If the leos don't finish what's in their bowl by the next morning, I will toss those worms back into my mealy container so that they can 'gut load' again and the cycle continues

Not too much work as I have only 9 leos....... for now

Take them out of the wheat bran, stick em in a dish, put on calcium powder and yum yum :chef:

And i dont think mine would eat them without heads, especially Daisy. She likes her food screaming and running away

We take a bunch out and put them in in a dish to warm them up then feed them one at a time (typically). She hasn't mastered a bunch in a feeding dish yet...surprisingly she misses a lot when they're there.

No way could I take off the heads...while watching her eat we've noticed she specifically goes after the head first.

Mine don't eat no dead bugs.
Besides, they go "crrrrrunchhhhh" when he grabs at them, and inside of a gecko is probably not real dry. I doubt they're in much shape to chew him up once they go down.

You're better off tossing them out if you're not going to keep them in the food dish. Re-use of a food item is the best way to spread a disease throughout your whole collection.

Yeah but what if you only have one leo? Ours had 20 small mealies in her dish last night and this morning had 4. Seems like a waste to toss them...
