What aperture are you using to shoot these? What light source are you using? What ISO are you using? I'd love to learn exactly what you are doing.

I believe I was in matrix mode for metering, and that's a lens with macro capabilities.
Maybe that's how I got such decent DOF with it only being on f5?

The metering can't increase the depth of field. The depth of field is an issue of physics, and electronic wizardry can't improve the physics. Were you shooting at the 28 end or the 70 end of the focal length? Maybe your lens is just exceptionally good at the macro end of things. Also, how far away were you?

er, sorry, I should have clarified, when I was speaking of matrix metering, matrix metering will allow more of my picture to be in focus, hence less of a bokeh effect.
If I would have taken that pic on spot metering, I promise you, only probably his head (if the entire head) would have been in focus.:D

I'll have to see what my focal length was.
