Im not 100% sure she is pure breed, because I adopted her from a shelter. The Shelter named her Cherry because she had Cherry Pop Eye when i got her and it required surgery. Shes so well behaved and very animated. I get crap from people all the time about her just because she is a rottie. I have never met a "bad" rottie. I need to move somewhere rural where no one will hate on my dog. These people here in the DC area, just plain ignorant and only believe what Nancy Grace on CNN tells them...lol

I was raised around Dobies and Rott, they are very gentle giants.

This summer my aunt had to put down her Rott, Lady, and two weeks ago her brother Zeus that my grandmother owned had to be put down as well. I will miss them very much.

It's not the dog in most cases it's the owner that trains them to be mean. By nature Rotts, Pits, Dobies, etc. are very good dogs. It's sad to see the breeds get a bad rap. However there are some cases where inbreeding has caused them to have bad dispositions and there's not much you can do.

Sorry to hear about the rotties. Was it hip displasia or age?

I was so angry when Nancy Grace did the story last week about the pack of Pits who killed a toddler.....Not that I condone the killing of athe child or anyone, but she never once mentioned the owner or the fact that the owner left the baby alone in the home with a pack of Pits he used in Pit fights. I see dogs as i would see a child. You beat, tie up or harm a child, sometimes they grow up and do it to others...the same goes with a dog, you beat it, tie it up or make it fight other dogs, they never forget and they take their anger out on others. The Pits have long been put down, but from what i heard, the owner got off lightly and there were no charges against him for the Pit fighting even though they found tapes in his house of the pits fighting in a fighting ring. CNN is terrible.

I probably should start a thread in the dogs section since many of us seem to have breeds deemed as threats( by ignorant douches)

Wow 16, thats amazing!!! I have heard that rotties do not live long, but that seems to be wrong. Sounds like they had a long life full of love.

Yeah they were old, but very good dogs. Lady was the runt of the litter and really didn't look like a Rott except for her markings and Zues was the largest, very big, and just sweet as can be.

Here's the only picture I can find of Zues, and I know I don't have any digitals of Lady.

Rose, does your sisters Rotties, goose you? Both Lady and Zues would goose us if they wanted attention and they were behind you. They would also take one paw and hit your leg with it when you were walking. Funny thing is after they were taken from their mother, they never got to spend time with each other for so long that they didn't like each other as adults, but acted very much alike. Now come to think about it our first Rottie Sheba would do that too.

Cherry does the goosing thing. She is an attention whore. She was neglected as a puppy(not in my care), but luckily was not beaten. They just left her in the backyard 24/7 since she did not sell....she is the product of really ghetto back yard breeding. She was the runt, so she didn't sell and she was left out back in a gravel yard. She developed the cherry eye from the dust in the gravel. I got her at 6 months and now at three she still has confidence problems, but other than that, shes the sweetest dog. A big cuddle lap dog. She gets owned all the time by my roommates husky because she is so submissive.

The rotties above are really good looking. I'll eventually adopt a male, when I have some land.

This one is about a year old... I think you can figure out which one is which ;) (at least I hope...)

And just for the record, It is usually Scott talking on here. Nikki isn't so into it, but she does read along with me sometimes.
