25 years of ups and downs but my boys made it to the biggest show in Rock/Metal. They are officially Hall of Fame members. Let's hope i can get me some tickets to the show.

Go Metallica! Good luck on getting those tickets. They sold out really quick for the concert tonight in Boston... so close... can't go... I could cry. :(

I've seen them a few times over the years. What a show! Now my 8 year old is listening to them & hoping to learn to play some of their songs. It'll be fun to yell at him, TURN THAT UP!!!!

I'm glad they finally got in, it's about time. Now can they just retire and stop making bad albums? I've hated everything after the black album.

I agree :main_thumbsup:, although I'm a little more impressed with Death Magnetic. I haven't heard all of it but I did like All Nightmare Long. could have gone without hearing The Unforgiven 3 though. Aside from that I think the only song I liked was Fuel.

It's not horrible, and much btr than that piece of crap St. Anger. I dunno, maybe i'm just to the point where i'm tired of their sound. they just come across like they're trying to hard to compete with current bands and are losing themselves along the way. My music taste has changed quite a bit since high school as well, i find it difficult to listen to anything that's not ridiculously heavy for some reason. Nowadays, if i want a metallica sounding band i'll listen to Trivium....which combines the best of both worlds imo.

LMBO! I thought I was the only one that felt bad for all those horribly abused vowels.
''I have an idea, James! Corral as many extra vowels as you can to the back of a word and belt them out as if you're violently ill!''

Ya know i'm a firm believer that Death Magnetic would have gotten better reviews if production would have been better. I mean the songs are there, just really bad production on it. Also i don't think the guitar tone was that bold wall of guitar like they had before.

I think they are in the right direction though. Well on second thought it wasn't production it was mixing. Cause really i can't blame Rick Rubin (sp) on that. Whoever was the engineer did a horrible job doing it. I think i can mix better using my Logic Pro and my Mac through my presonus interface.

Sorry that was the novice audio engineer in me talking.

LMFAO!!! HAHAHA, that had me rolling. It's funny you bring it up cuz me & my friend are always making fun of his vocals. When we're in a Metallica-hating mood we'll end all our sentences with his little "catch phrase/yell". I told him that it sounds to me like a guy getting his first relief from severe constipation lol. Metamucil-nuuuhhh!!!

Just so it doesn't seem like i'm completely jumping on Metallica, there are several bands i feel the same about that have been systematically raping their own sound for years, including Korn/Disturbed/Taproot/Killswitch Engage (ever since Jesse left)/Godsmack/Static-x/Slipknot.....i could probly go on for awhile lol.

CAN I GET AN AMEN!!!!!!!

Amen!!! Just out of curiousity, have u heard the song "Taxi Cab Confession" by 40 below summer? Reason i ask b/c that's the chorus & it just reminded me of them. Pretty badass band if you get the chance, i actually got to hang out with them a few years ago at their concert....cool guys.

The production & mixing are pretty low-end for such a big band imo, and i'm to the point where i think Rick Rubin has lost his touch over the years. I haven't been really impressed with much he's been a part of lately. Some of the songs were pretty good but seemed to lose something about midway through & just became the same old crap that nobody cares about anymore. It's kind of like watching a new episode of Simpsons, you remember the classic days & it seems like the same stuff but after about 5 minutes you realize it's a shell of it's former self and you've gotta turn the channel.

I actually rather like the new stuff better. I can take the screaming in moderation and occasionally even enjoy it... I got into the band after they'd stopped most of the screaming. Which probably makes me not old school or hard core, but whatever. That being said I'm LMAO with all the bashing. Though I love the nuuuuh thing he does, it really is a bit ridiculous and pretty easy to make fun of.

I do like Death Magnetic a lot, and I like All Nightmare Long best, too. The radio seems to keep playing Cyanide, which is probably my least favorite from the new CD, which is a bit depressing. Even that one is much better than St. Anger, which was pretty painful (St. Anger the song is ok, I guess). I had to force myself to listen to the whole CD of St. Anger... :main_no:

Well, we can stop all the Metallica bashing by just agreeing that Dimmu Borgir is WAY better anyway :p

I think i'd rather listen to Avril Lavigne(sp?) for 8 hrs straight than 5 minutes of Dimmu Borgir lol. For some reason i just don't get black metal, it just comes off extremely boring, the vocals sound like someone is trying to scream while drowning and the bandplay is just so predictable & rather slow for me. Most find it strange considering i listen to so many other bands that have similarities but for some reason i just can't stand that type of metal. I can see why some people like it i suppose, I just prefer the more rapid fire style with powerful vocals and at least some ability to understand what they're saying.

Here's a guilty pleasure of mine, i know it's horrible yet i can't help but laugh and enjoy it.....Hed(pe) :main_laugh:.......anyone who has heard "CBC" has to at least chuckle at it. Probly one of the most offensive songs i've ever heard hahahaha
