Actually pinkie mice are pretty soft. I don't think they form much of a boney skeleton until they're peach fuzzies. So small pinkies should not be a problem as that goes.

I have a jungle tremper female who hasn't been eating much for a while, looks thin, and all the eggs she's laid lately have been soft. She seemed interested in a few crickets for a minute, but when she missed once or twice ignored them. She wouldn't eat giant mealworms or superworms either. I brought her to the vet, but there was no poop for them to check for parasites because she hasn't been eating.

Then I had a thought, oh, I've got tons of pinkies because my feeder mice are breeding like crazy and I have way too many. I've never fed a gecko a pinkie, but I've read about it. So I put a live pinkie in there with her. She went up to it and checked it out, then turned up her nose and backed off. But, the next day I looked and the pinkie was gone! And now a few days later there's a good healthy poop. So thanks to that pinkie, she not only ate, but I have a sample for the vet to check tomorrow.

The vet went pretty good I guess. Her poop showed no signs of parasties. That was in an-house test though. They didn't send the sample to Antech or anything like that.

This vet can't order the stuff he needs to do an acid-fast test for crypto through the Banfield, so if I want her tested for that it looks like I'll have to pay $160 for them to send it to Antech. Or I can ask another vet maybe. This vet might be able to borrow what he needs from another vet though, we'll see. He gave me some Flagil in a chicken flavored suspension that I'm supposed to give her orally for 2 weeks anyway. I don't think it can hurt, and it wasn't too expensive, so I think it's a good idea. I'm going to check back with the vet in 2 weeks.

She didn't eat the pinkie I left her last night. I'll leave it in there another day and see. The vet recommended trying some waxworms, so I got some. My enigmas love them!
