Hi Eric
We are OK here in Northern Central IL

No really bad storms came through here and I am hoping not to see to many Tornado warnings through the summer
As goofy as the weather is anymore-we get crazy storms almost year round now

I hope that everyone is OK that has had bad storms

Well -were were OK until a Tornado touched down ON Interstate 57 on Saturday night

A very lager section of this road is still closed as of early this am and is supposed to remain closed for at least a few more days while they clean up the debris and fix the downed power lines

Amazingly according to the newspaper-no one was killed

We went up north last night to my mother's in Naperville IL. for a day late 85th birthday celebration for her and this road is a major part of our trip

Neither one of us had listened at length to any of the local news and since Saturday morning and so we were really surprised when we saw the first detour sign
Some 30 or so miles later completely out of our way and no where near the Interstate we found a road that would connect us to a main thoroughfare to our destination

We finally heard news reports that this major Interstate would be closed for the next few days which I believe is unprecedented

Here is the news story
from Sunday

and this morning

Thank God that no one was seriously injured

The personal aspect of all of this was that we were supposed to be on that road traveling up to Mom's the night before right around the time that this happened

Yeah, i live in the south suburbs, it tore through right by my dads office, luckily it only hit farmland. If i had gone canoing for one more day i probably would have been hit by it.

goodness guys, I'm so sorry you're having to go through all of this! I've never lived in the Midwest, but I grew up in Georgia and we do get our fair share of tornadoes here and there along with flooding and such...

I really hope everyone continues to be safe.... I'll be thinking about y'all.

outta my freakin mind
I had to sandbag my driveway. My basement flooded a few years back and I didn't want to deal with that again. The drainage ditches and storm drains were overflowing. Everything is fine here now though. The water was high and if I didn't use the sandbags... well, lets just say, I'm glad I did.
