Moist Hide help

Hi all

All was well with my leos, despite them appearing sometimes to take a little while to shed. Then yesterday I noticed that one of them has lost half of one of her toes.

I was using a little cave thing with moss as the moist hide, but noticed it was drying out very quickly, so I replaced it with a plastic tub with the moss inside - however the leos do not go in it.

The gecko with the half-toe has now turned white ready to shed again and I'm concerned. I can't make her go into the moist hide, and it stresses her out if I try to get her out to soak her feet.

Does anyone have any suggestions? :main_huh:

Does the moister box have a open hole on the side or the top? And will it be easy for them to get in it? Usually when I have a gecko that won't go in the moister box I just pick them up and set them in there so they no its there and how its like. If they still don't use it I would just keep it in there just in case they do want to go in there. When it comes time for shedding I would just soak them in warm water for about 15 - 30 minutes.

The hide has a large hole at the front so they can just walk in and out, but it also has a 'lid' on it, so I guess I could just lift that off for placing the gecko inside.

Yeah, I just use a GLAD container with a hole cut in the front with moist paper towels in it. She soesn't seem to go in there but like efx said, I just leave it in there in-case one day she decides she likes it for some reason.

Well after much worrying (as im sure most gecko parents do! ) I came downstairs this morning to find said leo sleeping in the moisture hide! When I coaxed her out to get a good look at her, her dead skin is comepletely gone and she is looking gorgeous - all toes accounted for

I guess she just needed some privacy to check it out!
