moist hide question

My leo didn't like moss, so I read that I could use paper towels, I tried that and they dry out with in 20 to 30 min...so I added a sponge that (rinsed daily) and it seems to stay moist for most of the day.

My question is, does the sponge wrapped in paper towels pose a problem?

Side note my leo seems to love the sponge as she lays on it as soon as it is moist and she will move to another part of the warm side when it is dry.

The only problem with a sponge would be mold. They can build mold and mildew pretty quickly. As long as you rinse it every few days and replace it once a month or so I think it would work fine. Paper towels alone should stay moist longer than an hour. You probably just need to spray it down a little more. Also, using several paper towels folded up helps retain moisture longer.

i am not an expert by no means on leos, BUT! sponges are one of the dirtiest things in your house and carries alot of bacteria, covered by a paper towel or not the bacteria can still spread.
