Hey guys, I'm just curious what type of moist hide substrate(spelling?) you guys use. I've been keeping leopard geckos for around 6 years and for the most part, just used Tupperware with a moist paper towel in it, except for my girls which has some sort of...mulch i think? in it. (I got a bag of it from a breeder MANY years ago. He used it in all his moist hides. I just don't remember what it is exactly) The girls seem to love "digging" beds and snuggling up in the moist mulch. two of them spend much of their time in there, shedding or not. I recently started using it in for all my geckos, and all of them LOVE it; but I'm running out. Soooo What do you guys use? What do your geckos like? I'm open for any ideas and options :)

Can you give me the name of the mulch? if ur geckos love it il try it with mine when i get him

As i stated above, I do not know what it is or what its called. I got it probably 5 or 6 years ago from the breeder i got my very first geckos from :) I really wish i could tell you, but I don't know :/ That's why i posted this, to see if anyone uses anything similar for moist hides :)

it's probably coco fiber, aka Eco earth and can be purchased in block form at any pet store. It's what I use in my moist hides and lay boxes and I've never had any issues with it.

We used to use vermiculite until our gecko started to eat it, then we switched to paper towels, then we filled their moist hide with smooth rocks and put a little water under the rocks (So they cant touch the water but it makes the hide humid) they like to climb over the rocks, and this way it stays humid for a lot longer than when we were using paper towels
