Moist Hide

I have tried multiple times to add a moist hide to my darlings' tank. They hated it and refused to go in. I have tried using different beddings and nothing makes them at all interested. When it comes shedding time I do try to soak one of them because she shows no attempts at freeing her toes from the shed and had lost toe tips as a baby for this reason. After her soaking I use Q-tips and tweezers to remove the skin. The problem is that I am going on vacation and I don't want the person who's watching them for me to have to deal with that as it is time consuming and difficult. Is there any way to make the moist hide more attractive to my geckos?

What type of container are you using for your moist hide? If you are using a clear container, perhaps your geckos just don't feel very secure inside of it. You could try either buying a new hide or try covering the sides of the one you currently have.

I know there are products you can buy that are supposed to help aid the shedding process. Zilla has a product called Shed Ease. It's basically like a water treatment that you give to them during a 20 minute bath that is supposed to soften the skin. I've also seen a lotion called Shed Away that also helps to loosen skin prior to a shed and even after an unsuccessful shed. Whether or not these products work however, I don't know. I haven't had to use them yet.

I have tried clear hides, I've tried black hides. I've tried different shapes, they just really hate getting wet. I don't have too much of a problem, it's when i go on vacation that I'm worried about.

The clear tub question was a very good one :D
I've tried the Zilla shed aid and the end result was not good at all

How moist are you making the hides? Perhaps they are too moist? It should NOT be wet (imagine soaking in a bath tub for long periods of time, the skin becomes too moist). Whatever substrate you use, paper towels, bed-a-beast, whatever - when squeezed in your hand, it should not drip any water.

Usually geckos love their moist hides. Is the hide on the heated side? If it's on the cool side, perhaps the hide is too cold?

I just have a Glad container with lid on and a hole cut in the front. I use moist paper towels for the beeding inside it also. :)
