Mold on eggs

Last Friday I had a clutch of 2 eggs.

Today I checked them and I found out that mold is growing on both eggs. The egg that had a dent on it remained the same but the other seemed good. What should I do about the mold?

Also a side note on the lid I had water maybe I have too much water? I have done 1 part vermiculite and 0.8 part water.

if they are dented and molding they may just be infertiles. if you are having mold issues on good eggs, its probably a humidity issue. try sprinkling a little athletes foot powder on them. i use a 1:1 ratio of verimiculite and water and have no issues. you also might want to make sure the vermiculite you are using has no added fertilizers. that can cause mold issues very quickly.

My lid is dense with water. Should I open and remove the water? Why is this happening on the lid?

your vermiculite should not be that moist if u are using a 1 part vermiculite and .8 water. are u sure u are measuring correctly

I tried to do another box. I used 1:0.7 ratio This time when i misted I also mixed all the contents and not leave the water on the top only and see how it goes. :)

Thats what your supposed to do.U have to mix it evenly. If u are just spraying on top of the vermiculite i wouldnt do it that way.Try going back to the 1:1 ratio but this time mix it evenly.u will still get slight condensation but that will go away in a week

i measure out my vermiculite first in the container, then slowly pour water in to get a 1:1 ratio. i think mix the vermiculite around to make sure the moisture is evenly distributed. if you have some condensation that is ok, but you don't want it dripping on the eggs constantly. you can put something under one end of your incubation container so that the condensation will just roll down and be reabsorbed by the vermiculite. just don't tip too much so that the eggs stay as close to horizontal as possible. i vent my containers once a week as well and have no oversaturation issues.

Ic and it worked fine?

it works good.A lot of the huge breeders use a 1:1 ratio. It is slightly damp.there is a tendacy to add more water because the 1:1 looks dry but trust me after u mix it thouroughly so the water is evenly mixed its good to go.u will see slight humidity on the lid but thats normal.open the deli cup once a week to let fresh air through

Ok thank you. I just made an experiment. I have done 10:7 and I have slight humidity on the lid. I mixed it throughly evenly. So should I go with more. A guy told me that vermiculite will drink up humidity even in the bag so i could have more than 10:7. So should I add more water or stay put with 10:7?

Doing the 1:1 ratio with a scale is exact there is no room to screw up.Trust me !! Do the 1:1 ratio and mix it and then leave it.Thats what works.a little condensation is normal.
