Mold on eggs

i usually take a wet Q-tip and rub over the egg to remove the mold but you will most likely will have to keep doing it every couple of days until the eggs hatch. while doing this you can also candle the eggs and check the progress of the eggs.

Is it possible that this will damage the egg?
