So, I checked on one of my eggs to see it had that mold that looks like short, fluffy white hair strands scattered across the egg. Has anyone had this before. What causes it? Is there any way to stop it?

mold means there is either too much humidity or it is usually an indicator that the egg has gone bad or that the embryo inside is very weak. Some people have had success with just using a cue tip and rubbing it off and still hatching the egg. A little mold is not that big of a deal but like someone on here said dont toss an egg until it looks like it needs a shave.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but usually mold only grows on dead eggs. Live eggs tend to deter mold from growing. Theres pretty much nothing that can be done but I keep mine in til it dents in badly and is pretty much covered in mold which can happen quick.

mold does not mean that the embryo is dead. It just means your humidity could be too high. I incubate in large rubbermaid containers with several eggs in each. I just had a perfectly normal thriving blazzing blizzard hatch from an egg that not only had a mold spot on it (was present when found in lay box) but was still attached to the other egg. It incubated for 45 days, both eggs hatched, none of the other eggs around it were affected. All I did was use a q-tip to wipe the excessive mold off of it from time to time. Just monitor it and if it's good it should hatch in time.
