Hi everyone,
I just bought my daughter a leopard gecko on Monday (Actually her grandma paid for it, but I bought the rest of the stuff) and WOW, has this been a learning experience! My daughter, Aliana, had an idea of what kind of pet she wanted, so she did the research and came up with leopard gecko. Boy am I so glad she did! Our local pet store had what they were calling a tangerine, so we bought her. We think it is a girl, maybe too young to tell. We named her Eureka. She is a delight! Though to me, she doesn't seem to be very tangerine (see avatar). She has some orange near the base of her beautiful lavender tail. The guy at the pet store said she still has her baby colors and would be getting more orange as she grew up. But ya know what?....the guys at the pet store said a lot of things that turned out to not be totally accurate, such as the need for a UVB light and that calci-sand was really good! Don't worry, I've spent about 12+ hours on this website getting educated (Eureka lives on some nice slate tiles.) Anyways...just want to say "hi" and I love leos and geckoforums.net! So addictive...I haven't seen my human family in days.

Welcome!!! Adorable leo :main_yes: Glad you did your research for little Eureka. If you post a few pictures in show off your leos, someone may be able to help you with her morph :)

Yep, I did just that! It's creatively titled, "What kind of leo do I have?" haha.
Looks like she's maybe a normal/wild caught with some afghanicus.

I love how she wags her tail when she's about to nab a cricket.

Just want to say thanks for actually doing research and not listening to pet store people.

Enjoy her.

It's amazing, there is the whole gecko/reptile world that I was not even aware of.

Welcome! You sound like you have quickly become as addicted as I am! :D
Within a week from spying my first baby at the reptile store, I purchased 3 geckos, new tanks and all the fixin's, and incubator (still hoping for those eggs!) and now am about to embark on cricket breeding. :main_laugh:
But it's a great family project!
