I spent a couple hours trying to get eye shots with my POS camera and I got nothing.

Here's the best I could crop out...

The center of the eyes reminds me of the inside of a clam shell. There's gold, turqoise, green and pink kind of flecked around. You can sort of see it here...

Black Spot Het Bell female I haven't shown...

Mack Snow BSB male (Can you see the red in his eyes?)

I'm really looking forward to see if the spotting comes out in the offspring and of course to see if they will make something cool when bred to each other! I know the quad hets from Mack Snow BSB x Banana Blizzard are going to be hella spotted. LOL! Hella...

When the albinos first get their spots they are black for a few sheds; so I call them Black Spot Bells or BSBs.

This one's spots just started to fade, but a lot of the spots are still black.

Marula, the first one pictured is a male and he'll be ready to breed in a month. You know I'll post about any hatchlings!

Is it the bell version of the chocolate albino that's common with tremper's ? result of lower incubation temperature ?.

Would you class this as a BS bells owned by a uk breeder from wales.

Thanks Brandy!

Gazz, thanks for the link. That's pretty extreme! I wish mine kept the black like that one. The spotting looks very similarespecially on the bands. Cool!

Oh yeah, Bells don't seem to be effected by incubation temps.

I'm not trying to be smart here, but I thought albino's were albino's because they lacked black? I am confused......

You're right and that's why I consider these unique.

Ok, so what you are telling me is these guys are albino's that carry black pigment.

If so....then the question that beg's to be asked....is....How do you consider these albinos if they carry black pigment or melanin or whatever?

I'm still confused.

You could sort of call it a paradox, but like I've said, the black fades to the regular Bell color. I really don't know what else to say until I've bred them out.

Black spotting is very common of young bell albinos. I've seen it on some Trempers as well. It usually starts to appear on the neck bands during the young stages of the geckos life but usually fades with age to that beautiful maroon color, typical of the bells.. as Mike stated. The tubicles and scales are so small it appears black to the naked eye. If you have a good zoom lens you can see that they are actually lighter than they appear. In Mikes case they are pretty dark. However, I've seen some really dark Trempers with near black pigmentation with albino, "red" eyes. IMO Mike's bsb project sounds like it could be a good project with a few years of line/selective breeding. Hope this helps.

Oh yeah Mike your bells rock!! :main_thumbsup:

See, told ya everyone still wanted to hear about your BSB project :main_yes:

The bell line and tremper lines keep popping out random stuff... So... whats going on with the rainwater line? :main_robin: It seems to be lagging behind when it comes to new stuff.

Rainwaters were in a lul for a bit due to Tremper "dropping it like it's hot"amongst other things.
We've seen some cool eye traits going on with Jeremy Letkey's as well as Dan the fireman's Rainwaters. Those guys are Rainwater pioneers, and have amazing rainwater albinos. It's just a matter of time Before we see some wacky stuff coming from their collections.:main_thumbsup:
