Morph and breeding questions

Hello! Thought we'd make our first post a big one. Both my son and I read the forums daily and it's time to be social:main_yes:

These are my son's two leopard geckos. They are and have been housed separately and we do not have current weights on either of them because he broke his scale somehow:main_huh: I will pick up a new one this weekend.

The female is a giant and is four years old. She is a granddaughter of Tremper's "Moose". Last weight on her she had leveled out at 84 grams. Her eyes are steely grey with a lot of red and pink squiggly lines. Obviously we are pretty sure about her, she was marked as "Giant Albino Stripe" when we bought her.

The male is normal sized and is almost two. Haven't gotten a weight on him recently, he was 46 grams at one year. His eyes are steely grey with black, almost navy squiggly lines. He was marked as a "Tangerine Tornado x Bandit". So what would he be called? I'm sure the breeder told me, but I cannot remember what they said now and because we were buying a pet, did not write it down.

Here they are together:

We have a lot of people (friends and hobby breeders) requesting that we breed the two. We do breed and raise crested geckos (yes, completely different species, husbandry and incubation needs) and do have an incubator and extra space and habitats needed to raise leos and am prepared for multiple sets of eggs.

My real questions are should these two be bred? Why or why not? I will use the leo morph calculator, but would like real, human opinions. I understand crested genetics but not leos and other than the known rules regarding not crossing the albino strains and enigma issues.

Sorry for rambling on....Any help at all would be greatly appreciated!

I guess the breeding answer would be on you honestly on if you want babies or not. Im not sure how wel the female would lay with being 4 years of age, I havnt fully gotten into breeding myself yet. Maybe someone with more experience there would help you. As far as morph, unless he is het for tremper, they would likley have normal babies, some hypos, and possible giants, and would have hets for tremper. Neither appear to have enigma in them so the enigma issue wouldnt be possible

That's about right. Both are nice looking geckos and the offspring would be a range of degree of spotting and size. They'd all be het for albino, so if you bred siblings to each other or female offspring back to the father you'd get some nice Trempers as well.

Thank you Amber and Aliza.

I did try out the morph calculator doesn't have tornados or bandits so it really wasn't much help. I still don't know what the male would be called, although I do know he is het for tremper.

We will do a lot more research before we decide to breed or not.

Thanks again,

Lora

Since bandits and tornados are line bred traits they wont be on the morph calculators. They only generate the outcomes of recessive, dominant and co dominant traits. On a morph calculator you could put it as a normal het tremper or a hypo het tremper. It also depends what morph calculator you use.
