I keep mine on the warm side. I see it as, would we want to go in a cold humid area or a warm humid area? Idk but I get chills with cold humidity...lol

But to them its probably different.

but im not sure if that is what is needed?

I added a ceramic heat bulb as well, it bumped up the heat quite a bit in the cage.

I use heat cable as well and it seems to work pretty well for tanks if you snake it on the bottom evenly :)

A lot of the people put them in between warm & cool side, having just half of the hide touching the warm tile. This way it doesn't get as hot as if you were to place it fully on top of the UTH, and the medium doesn't dry out as fast. For me some of my moist hides are directly over the UTH and the geckos seem to like it.

i never even heard of heat cables until yesterday.....i need to do some reseaerch i guess.

side track real quick....the heat lamp (ceramic) that i put in there yesterday was pretty HOT....how hot is TOO hot for their air temp?

also i have multiple geckos (2) and i dont want them fighting over warm hides.... that seems to be the only time they get confrintational is when one walks into a warm hide and there is not enough room.....that is why i bought the ceramic heat bulb to make the warm side all together warm in general.

Id say 75-80 aswell...alot of people will tell you it dosent matter aslong as the surface area is appropriate, but Ive learned that it does play a important role for there immune system.

Raising the overall temp isn't a good idea. Geckos need to cool down as well. Looks like you need more hides or bigger enclosure.

90 and over is too high for air temp.

i have a 40 breeder for 2 geckos......the cool side of the cage is about 75-80, the other side is about 90 air temp...just a small ceramic 50 watt bulb.

temps are estimated right now using probes....buying thermometers tonight.

yeah, that is why I house them all separate. Each one needs access to all temps. Sometimes one gets bullied over certain areas and they will not do good when it comes to health. Once all the hides are in it takes up most of the space.

yeah im seeing that.... but with the 40 breeder i have plenty of room... I am going to add a bigger moist hide though, they have plenty of hide space on the cool side.... its the warm im worried about....i have hides that hug the glass and UTH's on the outside of that glass to warm the hide. But only one like that. Also my house stays at 68 degrees so what ever heat i can add to the cage i thought would be beneficial. so i am thinking of putting in a bigger moist hide and another glass hugging warm hide.....maybe when i get home i will video tape all of this and put it up for you guys to see.....so we can correct my ignorance......
