I know this isnt the right place to put it but no one responded when it was in the correct section so im posting this where people will see it and hopefully answer.....

Ok...this weekend i fed all my geckos. All were perfectly fine and healthy. I left for the weekend, came back today. I was feeding my geckos and noticed one of my babies eyes looked enlarged so i decided to feed/water him last. When it came his turn, what i was thinking was the problem, really was-he somehow got mouthrot over the weekend. I have no clue how The only gecko of mine that ever had mouthrot was this babies father but they never came in contact and he has been fine for his whole life:main_huh:. His brother is perfectly healthy. How did this happen??? How did he just get it?!?! I think i caught it early enough to where if i put neosporin on it it should go away but im not sure. IS there anything else i can do? Hes in a tub alone, but in a rack with 10 other geckos. Will they be at risk? Please help:eek:

Well I dont know alot about mouth rot but what I have heard and read is that it is mainly caused by geckos that fight. Has your gecko stopped eating? Usually when its mouth rot they wont eat. Are you sure its not just a small cut or even shed skin stuck to the mouth? I am not sure on this one but I think mouth rot can be caused by high humidity Im not sure though. I do not think it matters with the rack I think they have to have contact with the other gecko.

Maybe because his father had mouth rot the babie geckos are more likely to get it to? *shrug*
I dont think mouth rot spreads like that, but you might want to be careful about handling the mouth rot one and then a different gecko...

im positive its mouthrot. When his dad first got it he looked like that so im positive thats what it is. I know mouthrot cant go airborne, it gets passed by physical contact, but he never had any contact with his dad, or even his mom for that matter. Im really confused....anybody whos dealt with it got any ideas? How he could have got it?

Mouthrot usuallu secondary to an internal bacterial infection. It can only be transmitted if the gecko shares a water bowl. I would get to the root of the internal problems... are you feeding crickets? Are you using dry dog food or cat food as a gutload?

There isnt a ton there, so it would probably be difficult to see in pictures. But basically hes got a little bit of white crust on one side of his mouth, and his eyes are kinda buggy.
