...at least some of the time! Here is our SS hatchling (from our Line Bred Snow female X Mack Snow Pastel male - so it can be done!) Hatched on June 19th while I was away. Sorry for the bad pics, we only have a cell phone camera at the moment!

We named him/her Zues/Hera:

and here is the clutchmate (named Tornado because she's a screamer!), hatched on June 20:

Thank you very much :) I was out of state when they hatched!! So it was Mike that got to see them and I had to wait a whole week! It's the first SS we have ever seen in person too :)

Thanks so much Kristi!!

Very cool! So the pairing was a Mack Pastel with a Line Bred Snow? That is awesome!

Actually it was a Mack Snow that is also Pastel (the Mack Pastel does not carry the Snow gene) :)

John, he was ecstatic! I think that was the first time he found a babies in the incubator, too :)

Thanks so much everyone!

So it is a Mack Snow with Pastel coloring? Sorry for all the questions, I'm just trying to understand the pairing.

It's a Mack Snow that also carries the Pastel gene. The Pastel gene passes to 80-90 percent of the offspring, producing the lavender coloring on both the Mack Snow and the "normals/pastels." The Pastels technically hatch out looking normal, yellow and black, but as they age, the yellow tends to become muted along with the black becoming light lavender. They are called Mack Pastels because they are Mack siblings :) We will have to see if the SS is Pastel too ;)
