Hi everyone. Today I have 2 of adult leopard gecko that they are already to breed. But i'm interested tu breed Mack Snow Black Night Murphy Patternles (It's lie Murphy but dark) with the Dam is Emerine Red Stripe Albino Tremper. What do you think the baby will be?
In order to figure out what you'll get, you need to take each morph feature (Mack snow, murphy patternless, black night, etc) and find out if it is dominant, recessive, co-dominant or line-bred (polygenetic). For example, Mack snow is co-dominant, Murphy patternless is recessive, emerine is (I believe) line bred. Then you need to figure out which of these traits will actually show up if you breed these 2 adults together. For example, if only one of your adults is a Tremper albino, you will never get offspring that are Tremper albino looking (the offspring will have one gene for Tremper, but will not look albino, since 2 genes for Tremper is needed to look albino).
If you are unfamiliar with the terms that I used above, then I would strongly recommend you hold off on breeding until you learn more about them, otherwise you won't be able to explain to people what genes your offspring possess and serious hobbyists won't be interested in buying from you. If you are familiar with these terms, then it's just a bunch of research and detective work to figure out what you can possibly get, which I not only don't have time to do, but also feel strongly that if you do the work, you will have really learned about all the possibilities of what you may end up with.
Here is an article I wrote some time ago to help people get started in figuring out this stuff:
A successful reptile breeder, in addition to knowing the mechanics of breeding and caring for hatchlings, must also understand basic genetics in order to plan and execute reptile pairings. In addition, the only way to make a positive contribution to herpetoculture requires the ability to provide...
