See this shows that inspectors unless its seriously pressed on by law dont do shit. Ive had the aspca check out a horrible petland in our are and got the same response. I have a feeling people really dont go to check or if they do get bribed unless it involves stinking bloody mammels(and only popular ones like puppies n kittens)

I tried e-mailing corporate petco a while back. Never did get a reply. My main point to them was that the housing conditions of the leos went against the literature they sell and/or give out.

My Petco in Toms River, New Jersey is the same way I bought 2 Leopard geckos from there. Actually I think I saved them. The 2nd one I got the girl who works there let me put my hand in the tank to get the one I wanted and I looked in, it smelled so bad. There was one with it's tail missing. There was an adult one and babies all in one tank. And also sand. They told me to use sand when I got my first one. They are IDIOT'S there!!!!!

this post ended up wayyyy longer than i intended...

Well, I had "led a fight against petsmart" in my area a few years ago. I kept leos then just not as many. I had bought a mountain horned dragon as my first reptile. (only good thing to come from there was getting me into reptiles) It did ok but was sick. I then bought 3 beardeds from them and learned they had massive husbandry issues. I did buy one leo baby from them before I revolted against them. When I revolted, I did so hard. I had a friend from KS named eyespy who actually called ...sombody in corporate and explaned the situation. Of course they did nothing. SOMEHOW she got in touch with SOMONE who did do somthing. I was banned from petsmart, 3 managers including the big manager were all fired. The one manager that didnt get fired...I knew her brother, anyway her husband basically forced me into his truck one night and threatend my life. Now I was younger then, and hes a big BIG guy so I just wanted outta that truck. Granted if it happened again, now that ive thought things over, I would deffinatly try him out, and see if he was for real or just running off at the mouth. Well they did indeed clean up there herp section.....for about 6 months. They continued recieving sick animails from there suppliers, and let husbandry go back out the window....so its reaally a fight us herp people cant win. But I did come close. The petco in my area isnt bad at all, I did have an incedent but Im gonna make a new post about that.

All chain petstores that sell reptiles or animals are a crock. I stopped buying animals from petco, petsmart, superpet, and other area stores years ago. The conditions of the animals have been addressed and nothing has happened to benefit the animals. So I have quit trying to do my best at helping these poor creatures and Just buy from breeders.

Although I completely agree with buying soley from breeders, and that many chain stores are terrible, I have been to some that are just fine. The Petco by me changed their leo tanks out of nowhere a few weeks ago. Repticarpet, no more than 3 in a tank, no more crickets running around, MUCH more helpful employees(at least the one I have been talking to there). They seem to be cleaning cages every single time I am in there. I don't know what changed, but it is deffinately for the better. Now the thing that bothers me is how 70% of their tanks say Companions Coming Soon lol.
