My Gecko Escaped!

What should i do? i've obviosly checked almost every single place possible in my room, and my brothers room (upstairs) do you think it's possible he scaled my 13 stairs? they're carpeted. This was late last night, i noticed he was gone first thing this morning (one of my slider doors got left open :( )

I set up a heat pad, with my geckos favorite cave under my bed, with a ceramic tile on it. Do you think this would attract him? I'm worried because my house gets kind'a cold at night.

Any help or feedback is appreciated! :(

If you think it could be ANYWHERE in the house, I would set up the same thing in each room. Their toenails can hang on to carpet, so it may be able to climb stairs, but I have yet to hear about that.

Cave
Shallow bowl of mealworms
Shallow bowl of water
Heat Source

-- All in the middle of the room and just keep checking back! Also check the closets, a lot of people tend to find them hiding in there.

GOOD LUCK! I HOPE U FIND HIM!

I had two get loose last week, and found them both inside clothing in the closet. Make sure you inside out every strand of clothing and give it a little shake; maybe over something soft, such as your bed. GL

You can als try this:
get a shoebox and cut a hole in the lid abut 1.5" square and put a few crix in it 1/2 on a heating pad too. Make a little ramp so he can get up t the top and in the box but once he gets in he will most likely not be able to get out if there is nothing in the box for him to climb on.

it's 11 here, and still no luck, i think i'll be up until 5 in the morning, searching for him, around the base of every wall, and under every little thing!

any idea how it got out in the first place? depending on how hard it was for him to get out you might have to look higher up than just around the floors... someone said in a different thread that they found theirs in the kitchen sink.

The leo very well could have climbed up the steps. You need to search every where high and low. Don't worry about the house being cool, he will find a warm spot it's what they do in nature. Once you have checked one room LITERALLY top to bottom seal it off, just incase he sneaks by you while searching another room.

Good Luck!

It doesn't necessarily have to be those caves from the pet store. You can just get plastic or styrofoam containers or little boxes and cut an opening into it.

Again, good luck and let us know where you found him!

I'm hoping he shows up soon. I'd try thinking of where the "warm" areas are near his cage...tv or stereo equipment, heaters, etc. GOOD LUCK!

found him today :)

my little brother came running in my room screaming

'NICK NICK!! I FOUND THE LIZARD!!!'

so i run into his room, and look on the floor, he's just looking up at us... and saying "feed... me..." with that big cheeky smile that never goes away haha :D

I'm very happy to have him back! :D It seems since he's been gone his coloration on his tail has become much more vibrant, as well as his actual yellow. I'll post a picture in a different section! :)

I'm glad you found your gecko. I have had more escapes then I like to admit. most are always found and don't go too far. I save every paper towel roll and toilet paper roll so when one escapes I just throw them all over the house along with some moist hides under heat mats. they usually find one of the hides or rolls within a few hours.
