I'm not completely done with her setup but here is my Iguana and her "cage" Me and my dad worked on this last week and completed it in 2 hours. The main part of the cage is made from window shutters that a builder didnt want anymore so he gave them to me. Good use for scrape? i think so...lol
Enjoy...

the tubs at the bottom of her cage are: far right - meal worms; middle - pinhead crickets; far left - roaches :)

Too little? I think it is just right for her. I know she will outgrow it but until then i think its perfect size for her.

IT's AWESOME!! I don't think it's too little It's a heck of a lot better than what most people give their iguanas, that is awesome!!

if you needed it bigger, just add on to the top, and have another door, so you'd have two doors, but I think it's fine!

You should get slate for the bottom :)
scrap slate they sell at home depot or lowes sometimes. it's totally cool you and your dad worked on it :)

I need to some ideas on what else to add to the cage.

hmmm how about a cool looking rock moutain in one corner, and bark as the background, too make it more like up in a tree, oh and instead of stale how about fake grass, like they use for football feilds. and what about like some leaves that come from the corner, across the top and hang down in the cage,a and lots of sturdy vine!

i think it is a cool cage

but i also think it is too small

i beleive iguana cages are supposed to be 2x their length so she ideally needs a 10ft cage plus alot more hight

and how do you keep humidity up?(unless you live in humid climate)

and he has no water to soak in

i know i feel mean being so negative it is a nice cage i just dont think it is appropriate for an iguana

sorry

Ive never heard of an Iguana's cage having to be 2x their length. I guess it would be better for them, but a 10ft enclosure is way out of my options for my room. The humidity is taken care by misting the cage 2 times a day. About the soaking thing: i was unaware they needed a place to soak in. But i do bathe her 2 times a week for shedding purposes and a good cleaning.

She was a rescue from Ohio back in September. She lived in a plastic tub(a big one! lol) It was bad to see her in there. But when i got her, i opened her up to my closet and let her roam freely in there.

I guess she isnt 5ft exactly. But she would be if she had her full tail.

i know alot of people let them free roam when they are home and just use their cage as a basking/sleeping site

b/c yes that would be a very large cage lol

here is a really good caresheet on them(hope i am allowed to do that)

also do you have a uvb light? cant tell if what you have is a regular bulb or an mvb

I had a rescue iguana once and I read Iguanas for Dummies when I got him/her. The MINIMUM size cage for one was 2x their length, with the cage being as tall as the iguana was long, and the cage being as half as deep as the iguana was long. Most iguanas reach about 6’, so a minimum cage requirement for your average iguana would need to be 12’Lx3’Wx6’H.

but you guys gotta admit IT's way better that anyone else out there would provide, seriously, I think about how many iguanas I sell to people who are like OH look only 19.99 and i'm like yes but they get this big and you'll need a cage....a HUGE cage....oh we'll take him, so you tell them everything they need, oh no I can't do that right now, we'll come back later for that.....but ma'am that's what it needs :(

Opps, i didnt realize it was under leos section. Can a mod or admin please move it for me. TY in advance. Ill try to pay more attention next time. ;)

As for her cage. it is taller than her, and as deep as her, the length is also as long as her. if not a bit longer. Its a big cage but i do see how it should be bigger. Ill work on another when i get some more wood. TY for the replies.

Lol.And well just to add to this,my friend is like rich and has a huge house, lotsa rooms etc.etc.
But yea the thing is that he has an iguana and he literally used up an entire room for his iguana.Like literally!Got the carpet off, tiled it up like a bathroom, got it a poopie spot(newspaper since its potty trained),closet used for a hide sorta thing and has the food dish(for dogs)filled with super's in a corner and a water bowl(also for dogs and in a corner)and to top it all off he replaced the celing light with a plug spot(kinda awkward if you think of it) and has a big ashhh... UV something lamp/light hanging on some next hook thinggy on the celing.
Considering how he's an only child, they basically had the iguana housed up like a human being.(do you people think thats why his iguana's so friendly?)
