Leopard geckos do eat their shed. Don't worry about this behavior, it is completely normal, natural, and instinctive for them to do this. Leopard geckos usually shed their skin monthly (at least mine do), your's has probably shed at least twice since you've gotten it, you just haven't been there to see it.

I've owned both my geckos for roughly 3 years now and I've only seen both of them shed about three times. They're pretty quick and secretive about it, but it's quite a sight when you do see them in the process of getting old skin off, pretty cool thing to watch. When your gecko begins to lighten up and become paler, that's a big indicator that it's going to shed soon.

They shed in one big piece (or several, but it's all at the same time), it's like pulling off a body suit, and they eat the shed along the way. Takes about an hour.

I managed to catch this as Echo was getting the last bit off her toes.

I've only ever caught Cleo shedding twice, but she sheds alll of the time, at least once every week or 2. But she gets so dull she could be grey instead of that beautiful yellow.
They're sneaky when it comes to shedding.

Watch when your leo's color seems to be getting more cloudy/whitish. After that, you'll notice that all of the sudden it's bright again :)

I have seen my leos shed a couple of times. Usually I miss it and the only evidence I have is a little piece of shed skin they forgot to eat up lol My cresties I have only caught shedding once! They are shy shedders :)

SHEDDING

Geckos typically shed the top layer off their skin every so often. You may observe them eating their own shed which is perfectly safe and normal. However, sometimes a geckos shed does not come off completely typically around their toes and eye lids. If this occurs, you may need to assist, or the geckos shed may cut off circulation and cause your gecko to loose some toes. We strongly recommend the use of a moist hide which will naturally aid the geckos shedding process.

Hope this helps.
