Ok so I got my first leo in the beginning of feb.

Nothing special in the 10g tank just the hide rock and a log to hide in.

Then I realized after finding this site mid february I needed a little more if I was going to get another Leo anytime soon.

So I want to the march show at the county center and took a look around, bought a 12x12x12 exo terra tank and asked lots of questions.

Then about 2 weeks before the last show in the beginning of this month I asked my friend who owned the LFS if he had a used 20L he wanted to sell. He lookes and found an old leaker and gave it to me.

I set it up, went to the show and to make a long story short you can see the progression to the final product.

There are a few scratches on the tank but that was mostly from cleaning it with a rezor blade. How to take some more pics soon. Trying to sex my first leo is turning out to be a problem because I can see pores but they are not that defined and I don't have a scale to weigh them.

The second Leo is from Franks Geckos and he told me she is a she so It's a female ;)

Trying to compare is a problem as well since holding both of them at the same and trying to take pics gets a little tough. Trying to hold one and take pics has proven impossible at this moment LOL Well either way They are happy, healthy, eating mealies, crickets and wax worms and getting along nicely.

If you have any mason jars put the one that you are not sure about in it and lift it up so you can see the underside of the leo, little easier in my opionion

I've don that but it's a squiggler. It won't stop moving LOLOL

Are the pores very noticable or are they slightly noticable? It appears that it is female however I am new to this.

Where did you get the moist hide? Id love one of those

I went to PA on vacation in june of last year and stopped by www.thatpetplace.com 's warehouse/store and bought it. Before getting the leo I was slowly stocking items for the cage. I started in June of 2007 getting stuff and finished with the leo and a 10g tank in feb. Yecko (Gecko number one's name as per my daughter) came home in the 10g tank he lived in up until a few weeks ago.

Brendan, I don't know that I've seen a more esthetically pleasing 20L leopard gecko enclosure on this forum to date. :main_yes: Very Nicely Decorated.

The one tip I would have for you, is that you move the thermometer(assuming that's what's up there by the light) down closer to where your leos are spending their time. You're not measuring much surface temp way up there.

Brendan,
I love the setup! They must feel like they are in the motherland :)
That humid hide is awesome.

Thanks and I am going to get another thermometer for down low actually since it sticks on and trying to take it off seems like it's going to be a problem.

OK Male or female.

My vote would be male. But, I am bad at telling sex.. so yah, It does look male though. You can see the poors, and the little bulge.

That is one amazing setup, it looks fantastic. I wished my 20L looked half as good:main_laugh: .

It actually looks more like a female from those pics to me, mainly because the bulges are not on the base of the tail instead they are before the vent, which usually means they are fat pockets. I think the best way to tell is by the pores, and those pics are just a little too blurry to tell IMO.

This site has a pretty good picture to show you how the pores should be different in a male or female.

Brendan, that picture is pretty blurry, but Hemipenal bulges occur below (after) the vent, and I don't see the tell-tale split bulge of the hemipenes, therefore, it is a female. I don't even see pre-anal pores. all females have a little inverted v-shaped row of scales between their hind legs, but they are not pores.

I have the same green rock moist hide in two of my tanks. They are great. Those are some good looking geckos.

Ok all of my leos went to my friend Richie today :( I am officially out of the reptile hobby as of tomorrow. Lucy, Larry, Ethel, Patches and my favorite Yecko Me and the kids are gonna miss you very much. Thanks for sharing that little part of our lives.

Mods could you please close this thread? And could you edit my last post in my for sale thread ( http://www.geckoforums.net/showthread.php?t=33237 ) to read all sold. Thanks :(

They are all with my friend Ritchie now. He and his son have a breeding pair and they are going to add these to the breeding unit once they grow bigger.

:( Sorry to see them go, but happy they went to a good home.
