I recently got a gecko. I was told that it laid eggs shortly before I got it and that it hadn't been eating for a few days. I initially thought it was normal since it had only been a few days, but it has now been over two weeks, and it still isn't eating. Its weight has dropped to 36 grams. At first, I assumed it was due to the laying process and the adjustment period, but now it seems like there's a problem.

How much did she weigh when you got her? What substrate is it on? what are you feeding it? How hot is the floor of the cage on the hot side and how are you heating it? This information will help me answer your question.

When I got it, it was 42 grams. I'm observing it on a paper towel. I tried feeding it mealworms, superworms, and dubia roaches, but it didn’t eat any of them. The cool side is 25°C, and the warm side is 33°C. I'm heating it with a heat pad. Also, I forgot to mention that it shed its skin after I got it.

There's a good chance it has more eggs and will lay more. It would be great if you can find out from wherever you got it whether it's been with a male so you know if these eggs could be fertile. It may not be eating because of the ovulating and egg-laying. This happens sometimes with egg-laying geckos. At this point in my opinion it makes sense to keep offering and see if she turns around. If she continues to lose a significant amount of weight, you could consider a visit to a reptile vet if there's one in your area.
