My leopard gecko rescues

Nice looking geckos. Where did you get them and just wondering what situation they were in that made them rescues.

Someone I know had a change in his work status to where he is spending long days at work and was having little if any time to spend with or to properly care for these two Geckos. Additionally they were cramped together in a 20 gallon long aquarium with only one cave to hide in on either side of the enclosure and when I went to pick them up there was only one water bowl on one side of the terrarium preventing the other from getting to it because of the divider. The one that is mostly brownish/grayish and yellow likes to stay hidden all the time so i'm trying to socialize him and see if he will become a little less shy. Any help or input from experienced Leo owners is certainly welcomed.
