I don'tnow if you head this, but it is probably best for your leos to be on a solid substrate (tiles, repti carpet, paper towel

nope, ive been suggested sand, or possibly coconut bark chips. I have however, today, added flat rocks throughout the entire tank to make it more solid.

well, the sand isn't working. I would get them off of it. The leo in your avatar is VERY thin, has stuck shed on it, and really needs to go to the vet. Just trying to help.

Also, they need a moiste hide to help with the shedding...They also need food and calcium bowls...I only see the one bowl in each.

They should have a bit larger of a tank, 2-3 hides(2 dry, 1 moist), no sand whatesoever, and calcium and food dishes. Even if you put flatrocks, there is still sand and jsut makes it a hassle for cleaning(meaning bacteria growth), and also meaining that they will not recieve sufficient belly heat.

ive only got the one on the left now(so i think its an adequate size, I clean the tanks out every two weeks, hes got two bowls, and there is a spot above the heat pad that serves sufficient heat, along with the light hes got.

Thats an older picture, the one on the left has beefed up.
I notice you say that this one has beefed up, but you also state that you just took this picture about a week ago (right before the one on the right died), so how has this one beefed up very much? I am not saying that he hasn't gained some weight, but he is pretty thin and may take a little bit of time to get him "beefed up".

I am also, just trying to help :), hope I am not coming off as rude. I also recommend a solid substrate, repti carpet or tile work great and still look natural, or you can go the cheaper route and get paper towels. It would be good to get a thermometer too to check the temps (if you don't already have one), since an overhead light isn't really necessary unless the UTH isn't producing enough heat, which happens often in the winter.

Anyway, just wanted to make some recommendations, we are here to help! And I hope you think that we aren't just trying to "attack" you! :) (Hope no one minds me kind of "speaking" for everyone!)

Keep us updated on Elmo! Sorry for your loss of Rainbow.

My avatar is the picture of rainbow thin yes, before she died, the picture i have in my OP is the two of them over a year-year and a half ago. I really appreciate the tips! thats one of the reasons im here to make these little guys that ive fallen in love with happy and live long. although as one would assume it is hard to read that youre pretty much doing everything wrong. but elmo does seem to be happy and getting along well with the sand and rocks 'knocks on wood'

Marcia has the best care sheet around! This is a really great place and we're lucky to have such a knowledgeable group of breeders and keepers on here to give helpful tips and advise.

Sorry for the misunderstanding about how old the pictures are! And your welcome! I agree though that you should look more into how to take care of them properly, by looking at that care sheet above. It will tell you most everything you need to know about caring for leopard geckos!
