Got a new camera so I finally have a change to really show her.
She is a F2 from WC E.afghanicus. Her green colors are turning more yellow, but she really stands out from the other babies.

This little gecko is of my own breeding. Almost all other babies are "normal" looking "afghanicus" or maybe better to call them cf. afghanicus. I got my F1 from Andrej Funck a Czech.
I trouble about that morf turning up amongst the babies. Ok so far I have had 3 out of many, but where does this gen come from? Are they crossed with normal morfs or is it spotanious?
I would like to hear your opinion

It is a beautiful pattern variation. It doesn't look like anything out of the ordinary to me though. It could very easily look different then it's siblings (my sis is 5' 2" tall and has black hair, I'm 6' and have brown hair).

Hi Jeremy
I can understand what you mean. When looking at all the morfs out there, it doesnt look that different. The afghanicus though are fairly similar all together. So far I haven`t seen any that differing as this one.

I will try to show you what I mean:

Here is the sister from the other egg.

afghanicus002.jpg

Here is the father.

afghanicus011.jpg

and finally the two sisters when they were young.

Now imagine that you have 60 babies and 58-59 are like the sister. I hope that explains what I mean

Best wishes

I don't want to steal your thread, I just want to illustrate just how different clutchmates can be. These two are from the same clutch. I have 1 other clutch that has hatched from the same parents and they both look like the normal.

Some times there is just an odd trait that pops up. I say work on reproducing the trait in other offspring. Hold the best ones back and breed them.

Well a trait has to start somewhere i guess. I really like the pattern though.

Were is mum ?? what is she.Are you getting at that your surprized at the bright colour of your leo due to the fact is pure Afghanucus ??.If that is the offspring of a pure Afghanicus x Afghanicus breeding there for pure Afghanicus. If that's the case i'd say it's deffo a oddball and is the potential for a pure Afghanicus morph. If how ever it's the offspring of a Afghanicus x regular pet strain leo then in that case it's not really that surprizing.

One of my fems went from a nice pastel color to cliche afghan characteristics. The male has an awesome pattern:) I love the bold black around nuchal loops.

Hi again
Sorry that I didn`t make total sense. English is not my best choice of language:main_rolleyes:

For Jeremy:
Yes I know and have seen the difference within a clutch of leopardgecko morphs. What is different is that about 95% or so are totally alike of all the juveniles. Coloration is the same only markings differ like there are many "double eyes". I got afghanicus from the first breeding and many of the animals in USA are from the same wc animals or from mine.

For Gazz:
I am not sure which of my 3 females is the mom. They all look the same. Here is a picture of one of them:

There are 2 possibilities. Either it is a true morph or there are some gens from something else than cf.afghanicus. I am puzzled that so few stand out and the rest are all alike.

Best wishes
