I have had this guy, for about 2 weeks now! He's doing great, so far I have gave him 4 meals (I read its good to feed him 2x a week at this age). He's very docile until he smells food! I think I should be moving him to fuzzies, but Im not sure, he finishes a mouse pinkie in about 5-10 seconds!
He shedded a few days ago as well.
Anyway, I wanted the help from all you milksnake keepers, to rate my set-up. This is my first snake, so please tell me if Im doing anything wrong, or if you have any recommendations!
This is the low-down on his set-up:
-10 gallon tank with secure screen lid.
-Aspen bedding on the floor, about 1" high.
-2 hides, one right on top of the heating pad, another on the "cool" end of the tank.
-A humid hide, has moist green moss inside, it's also on top of the heating pad.
-Water dish, its pretty short, I wanted people's opinion on this, its a little less then 1" high. I read a few articles saying that they like to "soak" themselves. Should I get a larger water dish? If so how tall? I have seen him swim in it once.
-Zoo-med 10-20 gallon heating pad, on the far left side of the tank.
Thats about it set-up wise. I also thought I should mention, that the room he's in gets lots of light, so he gets his natural day cycles. :main_thumbsup: It also stays pretty warm.
Im lucky, If I get to see him once a day, sometimes I dont see him for 3 days or so. The only time I held him too was to feed, because I seperate him to a different container.
Any input, or help is GREATLY appreciated!
