Cute leo :), Do you use that light for heating?, If so I would reccomend going with an UTH for heating, its best for heating leos, bright lights can stress them.

Hmm are you sure lights can stress them? They don't seem too stressed by it. It was a $10 light bulb lol. I don't think they're stressed.

Stress is not something your really just going to notice, they cant tell you. Leos are nocturnal and dont need any bright lights, they have been known to stress them:main_thumbsup:. UTHs work best for them, they need the belly heat to help with digestion etc..:main_thumbsup:

I don't have a UTH I have a human heating pad would that work? And could I use both at the same time?

Some use reg heating pads, so yes, they're fine. What is the temp on each side. Leos need to thermoregulate so having both the heater and the light might be too much for your little guy/girl. When I used tanks I used a red light bulb that I would turn on at night to watch them hunt. They couldn't see the light but it allowed me to enjoy watching them when they were awake. If you would like to put a light on top so it's easier to see the tank you could try a flourescent bulb since they give off little to no heat.

As for names my old website has a page with TONS of gecko names on it. Feel free to take a look.

We could help you sex your gecko if you could post a picture, that way you can pick out a name to go along with it's gender...we don't want the poor thing to have an identity crisis...hehe.

The middle of the tank is around 84 when the light is on and my mom won't let me bug her for the camera any more lol. I might try to put the heating pad under the tank.

Where do you currently have it? The tank needs a cool side and a warm side, the warm side should be 90*-92*...and the cool side in the high 70s, low 80s.

What wattage is the bulb?

I'm not sure the warm side gets over 90 but its close. The cool side Is in the low 80s for sure. I might put the heating pad under it and use the light just keep the pad on low. Thanks for all the past, present, and future help.

No problem. The main thing about belly heat is that since geckos are nocturnal it's the only heat they recieve in the wild and it's in direct relation to digesting their food. It's important that it be the right temp.

Also, one more tip, make sure you are getting the temp of the ground, not the air.
