Hey guys,
I'm new to the site and just got my first leopard gecko three days ago. She finally left her hide during the day so I took a quick pic. She's still not eating but hopefully she'll settle in soon. I saw her drinking this morning so that's probably a good sign.
I still don't have a name but am thinking of one. I think she's a patternless but I'm not sure. She's a purple color with no markings and a dark purple tail.
Here's a pic!

Welcome to GF!
I believe that she is a murphy's patternless. Congrats on your new addition. There is a lot of debate about whether or not leos should be on sand. In my opinion, I am not for sand. I believe that is causes an unneccessary risk of impaction. Sand is not their natural substrate as some people think, their natural substrate is hard packed clay. Anyways, I would recommend doing some research on keeping leos on sand and decide for yourself.

And what kind of heating system are you using?

Unfortunately I read about the negatives of sand substrate after I purchased the bag. On my next day off (Tuesday) I plan on getting either some tiles or the reptile carpet and switch it out.
I have a ZooMed UTH, plus a heating bulb on top. My thermometer says that it's at about 90-95 degrees. At night I change the bulb to a red light heating bulb and it lowers a few degrees.

a blizzard and a patternless are two completely different morphs. she is a blizzard. some may call her a midnight blizzard because of her dark color.

I'm still new and confused by the different morphs but after looking up Blizzards there was a few pics that looked identical to my Leo. Thanks xkissmyhorsex!
Does my heating system sound like it's alright?

haha no problem we all love to help here ;) as far as your heating i would say its pretty much on the spot. leos just really need belly heat though, which she is getting from the UTH. you could do without the basking lights. I have used them on and off thoroughout the years and have come to the conclusion that they just kind of stress the little guys out. theyre nocturnal so they dont bask and bright lights sometimes bother them. that may be why your little one hasn't come out in a while. if you have the reciept, i would just return the bulbs and lamp to buy something else for your buddy. thats just my view though, i know some people use lights and like them. so its really just up to you.

Thanks for the nice comments and info!
I was able to get off work early today and pick up the reptile carpet.
Here's an updated pic of my tank (she's in her hide of course, haha).

After putting her back in the tank she explored every square inch of it, even with me watching. I actually got her to eat a super worm with tongs too, the first time she's ate since tuesday.
With the carpet, the heat gets up to 95 easily without the light, so I'm going to stop using it all together. I didn't know it could bug them so I'm glad to get rid of it.

Looks like a patternless to me. I say that cause the tail is darker then the rest of it. That's usually the case with patternless leos. I like your cage setup. Just make sure that it doesnt get any of that sand in its mouth while eating. Looks like you already got that covered by putting the food inside a bowl.

Edit: I should start reading the whole thread before posting lol

I vote blizzard, too. :)
Patternless generally aren't that dark of a purple-ish-gray. I think she's really pretty and looks very happy and healthy. ^^

Thanks guys! I'm pretty happy with how the cage turned out. Hopefully she'll start coming out and enjoying it more. I haven't seen her out of the hide in awhile, even last night when I got home middle of the night. There's some new poop on the opposite side of the cage so she must have been out recently.
Last night I tried to feed her a worm with tongs. She came out, ignored the worm and licked my hand twice then went back in the hide. I thought it was kind of strange haha.
